CONSEQUENCES OF LACK OF COLLAGEN

  • faster skin ageing

THE COLLAGEN PHENOMENON

  • Collagen is the most important human protein and the main part of connective tissues—it forms 30% of all proteins in an organism.
  • It participates in vital functions of almost all organs and tissues.
  • Its task is to maintain the optimal level of skin hydration and to renew skin cells.
  • Collagen fibres are the building blocks of skin, tendons, bones, joints, cornea etc.
  • Collagen contains a unique combination of glycine, proline and lysine.
  • With ageing our skin creates less and less collagen.
  • After the age of 25 the amount of collagen in the human body reduces by 1% every year.
  • The creation of collagen is also disturbed by high physical exertion and stress.

FAQ

Is collagen absorbed or digested in the stomach?

The absorption of regular collagen is very limited because digestion of this type of collagen is limited due to lack of an enzyme called collagenase. Only about 2 to 4% of it are digested. Non-hydrolysed collagen should not be recommended as it is practically indigestible for humans. Such collagen is used as a filler into cheap meat products.

When buying collagen, it is important to pay attention to its origin and to check if it is a HYDROLYSATE, because only this one can be absorbed effectively (95%) in the small intestine. Collagen used in COLLIBRE is exactly described (HYDROLYSATE). The country of its origin is also known (Switzerland). It is produced on an aseptic production line in Austria using a technology patented by our scientists. It is a product hydrolysed into very short bioactive peptides.

These peptides are further hydrolysed very effectively in the stomach and small intestine where a set of enzymes generally known as peptidases changes them into amino acids.

Amino acids, such as proline, hydroxyproline, lysine and hydroxylysine are released by the digestive system and hydrolysed collagen contains 20times more of them than any other protein absorbed by the small intestine and carried into the blood stream.

It needs to be pointed out that the collagen hydrolysate from a natural animal or fish collagen contains 8 out of 9 valuable exogenous acids that the human body is not able to produce. Medical researches that have been conducted for more than 20 years have documented this phenomenon of collagen hydrolysate and hugely contributed to improving the quality of joints in people suffering by so called dry joints thanks to renewing the cartilage and the joint liquid. These researches also proved that an easy access of our organism to exogenous amino acids from a collagen hydrolysate significantly contributes to the renewal of elastin that is responsible for firm and velvety skin and removing wrinkles. Other medical researches have proved reduction of osteoporosis in people suffering from loss of calcium in their bones. Other clinical researches are proving faster bone union after fractures and faster renewal and regeneration of tendons in physically active people and athletes. Collagen hydrolysate is also used in dental medicine and for reconstruction of burned skin. The US Department of Agriculture responsible for the safety of food and the EU directive on this matter unequivocally state that collagen hydrolysates are exceptionally useful and safe products intended for human use.

We also need to pay attention to the fact, that after the age of 25 our body loses the ability to create collagen. However, collagen is a binder of our internal organs and a building block of our musculoskeletal system and skin. By supplying collagen in the form of a hydrolysate we can slow down ageing of our organism and prevent some difficult health issues.

What is the difference between Active, Beauty and Vital?

Each version contains a different mix of vitamins. The most important component—10 gram of collagen—is the same in each version.

Is fish collagen better then beef or pork collagen?

It is not important from which animal the collagen comes. The most important think is the hydrolysis of the collagen. In other words, how small are the “pieces” forming the collagen protein chain so that it can be absorbed fast and easily. If the particles are too big, they will leave our body before it has time to absorb them.

The highest hydrolysis is Da 2,000 (two thousand daltons). The higher the hydrolysis, the smaller the particles.

A dalton is a unit of molecular weight of a particle—if the collagen hydrolysis is 3,500 Da, it means it is bigger and less easily absorbed than 2,000 Da.

Our Swiss collagen has a hydrolysis level of 2,000 Da which makes it absorbable by up to 95%.
